Candidate Statement

I am Cong Thanh Do, MBA, an engineer, business owner, human and civil rights advocate within the last 20 years. I am running for California State Assembly in your district, District 27th. I stand for improving the quality of life in our community - from public safety, to food quality; from providing our younger members with affordable higher education, to providing our fragile members with a way out of poverty; from supporting our local businesses to promoting equal rights.

When I arrived in this country in the early 1980’s, as an immigrant from Vietnam, San Jose had the highest percentage of economic mobility in the country. It was an ideal place to put down roots and raise children. Today, nearly a third of our fellow residents are living with less than a middle class income. Crime rates have gone up, and opportunity has gone down. Housing cost is skyrocketing. We had issues of homeless, traffic, immigrant and environment as well as business and job opportunities.

Having spent the last 20 years of my life fighting for human and civil rights, humbled to be listed name along with famous democracy activists in worldwide. I know what’s at stake when basic rights like safety, public health, education opportunity and economic access are not available to the people. This is why I stand for California jobs, reducing crime, food safety, education for all and human rights.

I’m Cong Thanh Do and I will serve you with integrity, transparency and dedication.
